As we were walking back towards the main trail, we noticed a large crowd gathered around a park ranger. We were just going to sneak on by when Laurie exclaimed "I know that voice!" The ranger was one of her ex-coworkers, Jeanne Roy, from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation [1] where they were both traveling library trainers.

Jeanne left the foundation about a year before Laurie, to take a job in Port Angeles and somehow ended up with the National Park Service.

Laurie went up there a few days later to hike with her on her day off.
