Sony and copyright
There really is some incredible irony that Sony is going through such incredibly stupid steps to try and protect their "Intellectual Property" when their most famous foray into the world of copyrights was when they won the BetaMax decision that allowed for Fair Use recording of programs off the air.
And now they are doing everything they can to keep the end user from being able to achieve anything similar without Sony getting to to install a rootkit on your system.
To top it all off, it also appears that their rootkit itself violates copyright through the use of LGPL code written by someone else without meeting the requirements of the license.
I don't by any Sony music anyway, since they are members of the RIAA, and I don't buy any RIAA music, but I think I can avoid buying any Sony products for a while. They make some good shit, but there are almost always other options that are just as good, and often cheaper.
